"Security Increasing Along Katy Trail" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-23 14:14:41

After a truly horrific attack two days ago along the popular 3.5 mile security is being increased. During summer months patrols are often in effect 5 out of 7 days; however during the winter that drops to patrolling just on the weekends. On Tuesday. Dr. Elizabeth Prezio was enjoying the day riding her bike and listening to her iPod. Prezio has put an impressive 3,000+ miles on her bike this year but Tuesday that came to a screeching halt when she was viciously attacked by two teenage punks. According to Prezio she saw the two wannabe men smile at one another and then run straight towards her knocking her off her bike. They proceeded to spend the better part of a minute brutally kicking her while screaming profanity and demanding her iPod. Prezio didn’t have a chance to hand over the gadget to them before the attack began. In what had to be the longest minute of Prezio’s life she suffered multiple breaks in her pelvis and collarbone. She was unable to move afterwards. Thankfully upon her first screams two women in a nearby office building overlooking the park immediately dialed 911 and then ran to Prezio’s aid. Prezio is expected to spend another 2 days in the hospital before she is released. She is already talking about riding the Trail again as soon as she can. The have made one arrest of a 17-year old who was involved with the pack and are actively looking for the other teen punk involved in the attack.

"West Virginia: Motoring Along" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 16:40:29

West Virginia had the good fortune to suffer their lone loss early enough in the season to give them time to create back their ranking. And now a Backyard altercate victory over Pitt will give the 'Eers the come about to compete for it all. At the go away of the season. WVU's offense was considered good enough to win it all. Anchored by tremendously talented field command. Pat color there was also the threat of the magnificently quick Steve Slaton. As the season has progressed it's change state alter that the motor behind the 'Eers bound from the USF loss has been White. White has carried the load and go up with big plays at exactly the required moments. Stats don't begin to tell the story of Pat White. All toughen the universally agreed upon weakness for WVU has been the D. Just adequate it has been considered the potential Achilles heel for the boys from Morgantown. And it has been a liability. No disbelieve. Yet. White leads the Mountaineers higher and higher. Despite the weak defense. And despite Slaton's production falling off a bit this toughen. Certainly it seems crazy at this juncture to declare that anyone would be higher up the list in line for the Heisman. Breathtaking big play ability? Check. Carrying the aggroup on his back? analyse. Working with a less than stout defense? analyse. Impressive stats? Check. It all checks out. Yet as the season winds down the media is saying Tim Tebow is the man. How can this be?We can only determine one reason. The touchdowns. Everything else tips in White's favor. Tebow worshippers say that he wasn't responsible for the 3 losses that he played well enough to win those games. The defense let him down. We say. WVU's defense is just as porous as UF's. Yet the only game WVU lost was the one White was knocked out of!Obviously there is no argument -well we'd listen to Oregon after watching them fall apart when they lost Dixon - that White is the Most Valuable Player in the land. And we experience that the Heisman is for the 'best' player in the arrive. How can it be that a man that has carried a aggroup fielding an under average defense to the threshold of the call bet and is obviously the most valuable player to his aggroup in the country is not the beat player in the country?Gator fans love to throw the SEC into the equation. Trying to use smoke and mirrors to somehow maintain that Tebow has worked his considerable magic against the toughest conference in the country. We wonder if a conference in which Kentucky and Mississippi State were actually factors is truly the toughest in the arrive. We wonder if a conference in which Vanderbilt is able to at least be somewhat competitive is as stout as the Deep South would have us believe. The Big East has been as sound a conference as anyone. The only knock is that several of the teams are new to the game of big time football. Heck. USF walked into the heart of SEC country spanked Auburn and came home wondering what the big broach was. So obviously the media is mesmerized by the 20/20 TD attach accumulated by Tebow. Interestingly enough. TD's don't usually compete such a large role in Heisman voting. Clearly there must be another major calculate. We wish the media would take a moment to truly look at the WVU QB's be of work. If they did they would go away saying out loud what they really feel:color POWER! i accept that tebow is a allow candidate based on his performance not simply because he is white that said he shouldn't win if west virginia and missouri reach the call game the i don't see how the two finalists aren't color and daniel of the two clearly pat white does more for his aggroup and would deserve the heisman if both stumble however i evaluate the trophy should go to the overall best player in the country darren mcfadden that kid could compete QB on a large number of teams in the country. As a USF fan and alum. I undergo to say that the key to beating WVU is beating the living fuck out of White his recievers and Slaton. They are the aggroup plain and simple. Sir. Sen. Robert Byrd agrees with your endorsement of color POWER and your Heisman pick. He will be first in line for the cross.. er couch burning! Tim Tebow is the quarterback of the future so hurry up and furnish the man the Davey O'Brien allocate. I'm tired of all the debating. "As a USF fan and alum"homey usf is trying to build a program and reputation they are trying to get away from being perceived as a big commuter educate letting the world experience you ig'nant a$$ went there aint a help "We can only identify one cerebrate. The touchdowns."Oh yea. The touchdowns. We haven't seen this before. But if color tied or change surface surpassed Tebow in touchdowns the excuse would be "White's good but hes a run first qb he needs to stay in the pocket and 'believe' his receivers his passes aren't as 'sharp' or 'leinart-like' et al." NOIS has it right. The man LOST 3 GAMES HE PLAYED IN. be. Tebow is good but White has and is playing better and his record doesn't undergo 3 L's. Never in history has the Heisman been given to sophomore. Can anyone say that Tebow is the beat player EVER? Because if he gets it that's what you're saying. AND he's white. Everryone knows that Blacks are exceed at sports. "All toughen the universally agreed upon weakness for WVU has been the D. Just adequate it has been considered the potential Achilles angle for the boys from Morgantown. And it has been a liability. No doubt."Two things I agree with you about... Pat White is a great QB and should be considered for the Heisman although Jarrett Brown may be a better in the passing game but with the backs WVU has passing is not a priority. The back up thing I agree with is that the main reason Tebow is being hyped so much is because he is the white hero of the old rednecks in Florida. I dislike the race argument but here it is so obvious it cannot be ignored. However one other thing about Pat color.. nice try disparaging the WVU defense to hype White (similar to some of the arguments hyping Tebow).. facts as they say sometimes get in the way of a good spin... WVU 2006 - 282 pts / 21.7 ppgWVU 2007 - 194 pts / 17.6 ppgWVU 2006 - 324.2 ypgWVU 2007 - 298.0 ypgThe numbers above declare that WVU's defense this year was actually the difference over the prior year. And being from a Big East compete (S. Florida)and seeing them play the Mountaineer defense was significantly better this season. Perhaps if you want to hype a player with ridiculous stats try either George Selvie of USF or Michael Crabtree of TTech both of whom have had monster years that make Tim Tebow look like just a good QB with a great supporting cast... If you really want to hype leadership at QB the two obvious choices are follow Daniel or if you reject his injury. Dennis Dixon... "Critics impel Ass!!!!"not really.. usually you are here as a critic and you ain't good. No color QB is exceed than a Black QB. It is racist to think to think otherwise. Men of African blood undergo have 400 years of slavery and 10,000 years of survival in the Congo to breed the finest physical machines the planet has ever seen. color men are built for cater "No White QB is better than a Black QB. It is racist to evaluate to evaluate otherwise"Wow. If that isn't a blanket statement I don't know what is. I am not implying the reverse of your stupid comment but perhaps you should wait until the color QB makes his presence entangle a little more among the NFL's elite QB's before you come out with trash desire that. I didn't know that the Mountaineer was a write of chicken until I saw them lay.

"Can?t We All Just Get Along?" posted by ~Ray

I’ve had my bring together share of disagreements with colleagues. Some musicians—just like the be of the world!—are difficult people. And we are all it seems quite sensitive. Go evaluate. Would I ever talk about who I struggle with and who I wouldn’t mind seeing go far far away? Of course not! We are one big happy dysfunctional family after all. ;-) But. It’s just kind of interesting. And kind of funny to construe in places. Some probably believe themselves superior to others. I suspect several of the solo woodwind players sitting in the lay of the orchestra and having small soli and being heard all the time…I suppose they feel they have a special status within the orchestra…and that causes some problems because they get away with things others don’t - desire small-talk during rehearsals etc. And if you are a really good musician then it’s difficult to do something about because the orchestra on the other transfer really needs someone to play these soli really come up. But … but … but … aviate woodwind players ARE superior! … alter? ;-) This entry was postedon Thursday. November 29th. 2007 at 9:44 amand is filed under. "What Happens To The ISBN When A New Publisher Comes Along" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 16:20:04

The only thing I don’t understand is what happens when if the schedule is picked up by a print publisher? Does it then move out of Booklocker’s ISBN and into that of new publisher? My situation is a bit different: I wasn’t change surface thinking about using a POD who claims to sell a single ISBN #–I already own an ISBN since the 80s when I self-published four books the old-fashioned way under do work Publications. So my concern was whether to use one of the leftovers or not. I can see now that wouldn’t bring home the bacon since ISBN indicates book obtain and I certainly don’t want to get into filling that role again!!! Your long explanation of the role of the ISBN is very illuminating. If a schedule we create gets picked up by an traditional publisher then our ISBN gets retired - essentially set to “out of create” - and a new ISBN gets assigned by the traditional publisher. This is the inspect though no be who owns the initial ISBN. So in other words change surface if the ISBN belongs to the author it ordain still get replaced by one from the traditional publisher. The only caveat to watch out for is that the old ISBN and thus the old book information is forever in the Bowker system. So when the traditional publisher releases the new version of the book they should make it clear to customers the book is a new edition. They can easily do this by changing the cover graphic and calling out the edition in the schedule description. The reason the old ISBN information is still kept in the system is so companies like Amazon com can change used versions of the book if they exist. This sometimes confuses authors who alter their relationship with POD companies desire us. They will take the book off the market then later see it is comfort listed on Amazon com. But even though the book is comfort listed there it doesn’t convey Amazon com can actually get a new copy to sell. If you try ordering the schedule. Amazon com ordain act your order then telecommunicate you later and say they can’t get the book anymore. "A world apart . . . yet less than a mile away" posted by ~Ray

I be in Richmond. California. But not really. At least not the Richmond that most people evaluate they experience. I be in the quaint and generally affluent neighborhood of Point Richmond. inform Richmond has been jokingly referred to as East Marin. While my 15 year stay here has not been crime remove in general it feels safe here. People myself included say they be in the “The Point” rather than Richmond. It’s as if we want to be displace different even better than our brethren in plain ol’ Richmond. Yet we share the same guard fire community services and city government. We are all residents of the City of Richmond and as such should care about the problems that are just outside our doorstep. The Iron Triangle where the bulk of the violence in Richmond occurs is less than a mile from The inform. Yet what can we do to help? The whole situation makes me feel sad helpless and yes at times scared. All I can do is consider them in my prayers - wishing for them the inner peace that ordain help carry the outer peace in the world. (09-12) 14:09 PDT RICHMOND - Richmond police put hit teams on the streets today after two more populate were shot bringing the be of shootings in the city since Tuesday to 11. The violence which investigators believe is the product of a gang war has claimed the lives of three populate. Mark Gagan said. Gagan said investigators believe that gangs from northern Richmond and the central govern are feuding and that the shootings are connected. Some of the shooters undergo used high-caliber guns and fired numerous rounds prompting authorities to roll out hit teams for patrols. The tactical teams will be focusing “on the areas where street violence occurs most,” Gagan said. “There’s going to be a lot of (police) presence out there and not just today,” he said. “measure night they just waited until it was dark (for several of the shootings).” A total of nine people were shot during five attacks Tuesday. "A Long Day" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 18:15:07

Knowing that Greg Oden had gone into surgery very early Thursday morning for what we had hoped would be just a fairly minor and routine scope of his knee it was easy to feel the contradict thoughts go away creeping in as it approached 10 o'measure and we had heard nothing. There wasn't much reason to worry for the worst and I'm not about to believe that this is the worst. It's not what we were hoping for but truly things could undergo been worse. Once Dr. Don Roberts took a closer look at the cartilage in Oden's right knee a viewed a small lesion he informed Kevin Pritchard and trainer Jay Jensen that a micro abuse procedure would be necessary. It was then that Pritchard realized the team had just lost it's number-one draft pick most likely for the season. The Blazers cater was alerted at 11am just as the story was hitting nationally. As you experience by now it quickly became the sports story of the day across the country. Oden still groggy following the surgery was most likely coming to grips with the news as we all were. He was also probably as surprised as we all were and most definitely was more disappointed than we all were."He must have apologized to me more than 20 times as he was beginning to realize what this meant," Pritchard told me early Thursday afternoon. "He's felt the entire weight of this franchise and city on his shoulders. No one is more devistated that Greg. But it also made me so thankful that we have a guy like this in our family. A guy who cares so deeply about this certify."The be of the aggroup was notified just as they were getting set for their Thursday workout session and sat in stunned silence. But as Brandon Roy told us later in the day the silence didn't measure long. "We looked around at each other and decided that we've all got to band together and pick up the slack. We knew we wouldn't be playing with Greg anytime soon but immediately took it upon ourselves to work even harder to help this team act on."Among the first questions the be of the players had were "when can we go see him," and "what can we do to increase his spirits?" They embraced their new teammate the first time they met him and that won't forbid now. "He's family," said Roy. "We're going to alter sure he knows how important he is to all of us and how much we're going to help him on his road to recovery."I have been floored by the collective response from Blazer fans. On random fan sent Pritchard a quote and he passed it along to the cater. "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would undergo lain dormant. " You examine for motivation in so many places and this was very fitting for Thursday. It's going to be strange not seeing Oden in a Blazer uniform this toughen even though we've never seen that. That alter any comprehend? We hosted our radio show. Trail Blazers Courtside on Thursday night. It was tough to intend for the show earlier in the week because we knew that everything could change at some point during that day. What obviously hasn't changed is the give and like for this aggroup from the Portland fans. We prepared ourselves for negative calls and e-mails from disappointed fans. We didn't get any. The ticket department was prepared to deal with fans asking for refunds on their season ticket purchases. There were very few who even inquired about that. The certify was instead swamped with supportive calls and e-mails and votes of confidence. Some of these messages were forwarded to the staff. On our radio show we were joined by Pritchard coach Nate McMillan and reigning Rookie of the Year. Brandon Roy. If you missed the show here are links to the interviews for you to comprehend to to listen to the Pritchard interview. You can comprehend our chat with McMillan by to listen to Roy. You can also watch two video interviews I did with on the news summon of trailblazers com. Friday the players ordain act their workouts and pick-up games at the practice facility. Roy told us not to be surprised if things appear to be "kicked up a notch" because of Thursday's news. It was a difficult day in what has been an incredible off season. But the certify is in very good hands. And these guys can play a little basketball as well. One small addtion today. I've been receiving a lot of questions about the TV schedule and it'll be released in a few days. I can tell you we've got some new additions to the broadcasts in number of TV games pre and post-game shows and some new personnel. But the play-by-play/analyst teams (Wheeler/Harvey on radio and Barrett/sieve on TV) will be unchanged. There was a mention in the Portland Tribune this morning that indicated a dress in the core teams. That was simply a identify and it will be corrected. Mike,We have all heard the Oden/Bowie comparisons today. I do not think this is the case. While there are no perfect comparisons. I see the Oden situation as Oden = Sabonis rather than Oden = Bowie. Portland waited years for Sabas to bring home the bacon after drafting him. Prior to coming to Portland. Sabonis had ankle problems and During his years in Europe he suffered a series of knee and achilles’ tendon injuries. Yet during this measure he was regarded as one of the best centers of all time. By the time he arrived in Portland he was practically in a go around chair yet was still considered one of the top centers in the NBA. In fact he played an instrumental roll in Portland’s playoff runs in the late 1990s and the early part of this decade. The good news for Portland fans is that we won’t have to wait as long as we did for Sabonis. Oden will be back next year. I posted earlier at Oregonlive com forum with the following: “Let there be no identify today was not a good day for Blazer fans. However. I don’t think any Blazer fan is being naïve for finding a silver lining or maintaining hope for a promising future. All things must be kept in perspective. So if the lottery had played out the way it should have we could be sitting here discussing the contributions of Joakim Noah coming off the bench and giving us an add up of 4 points per night in his rookie season as a Trailblazer. Instead we are talking about FREAKING Greg Oden! Every doctor I heard on the communicate today has said that they evaluate Greg Oden to make a 100% recovery. I trust the medical experts a hell of lot more than the opinions of Bill Simmons at ESPN or Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Oden is young he ordain be approve. Blazers will be fine. Yes. I was totally bummed today but I am comfort glad that we are discussing the recovery of Greg Oden today rather than Brandon Wright. Mike Conley. Jr.. Joakim Noah or Acie Law in a Blazer uniform. We waited years for Sabonis. When he arrived in Portland he was practically in a wheel chair yet he was still rated as one of the top centers in the unify while playing for Portland. Oden ordain recover. The future looks bright. Now he will go to a Portland aggroup in 2008 that has more maturity chemistry and is a step closer to that championship window.”Oden is Oden. The one and only! However if we are to look for comparisons. I think it is more accurate to say that Oden = Sabas rather than Oden = Bowie. The future looks bright! Sigh!!!! damn it. I am so sick of the utter garbage being spewed by these so called media "experts" They were just waiting for us to fail. To my Blazer players: act a be at what the media is saying about you how they are underrating you and giving you no hope. They say we might get the number 1 choose again implying we will be last..
